Promoting Your Personal Brand

Building your personal brand is not complicated and certainly does not require you to hire expensive marketing advisers.  Here are a couple of questions to think about when creating and maintaining your brand.

1. Is your brand consistent and easily recognized?

2. Does your brand clearly communicate benefits to your potential client?

Here are 5 quick tips to help you build up your personal brand.

  1. Own your domain, particularly a DOT COM:  Dotcom beats dot net, dot org and dot biz, and all the other web extensions.  If you can get the dotcom, great.  Create your own authority blog site to brand you!
  2. Use Professional blog designs and a Logo: There are simple programs like Web Graphics Creator that enable you to create really professional logos and banners.  Almost every banner and the header on my blog were created with this program.
  3. Create visual consistency. Use professional blog designs and logo designs.  Your logo header, personal picture, and colors should be consistent on all your social networks, including blogs, websites, Twitter, Facebook,
  4. Be content consistent: Don’t try to do too much. Focus, stay on target with your true north, be persistent and keep your message consistent
  5. Contribute and Comment: Participate in social media by meeting and greeting people. Complement them and contribute to their blogs and you’ll soon be recognized.

Building your personal brand is really easy, it just requires follow-through. It is one thing to read this post and ultimately does nothing different.  Or, you could actually just DO IT.
